One hospital bill can undo ten years of saving.
Health insurance is not about tax saving or ticking a box - it is the wall between a medical emergency and your family's savings. We compare Care, ICICI Lombard and Prudential Health plans and build the right cover for your family and your parents.
⚠️ Where health policies go wrong
The ₹3–5 lakh corporate cover illusion
Your employer's cover disappears the day you change jobs - often exactly when health has become harder to insure. A personal policy must start while you're healthy.
Room-rent limits that shrink the whole claim
A ₹5,000 room cap in a city hospital can proportionally cut every line of your bill. We check this clause before anything else.
Parents left for "later"
Every year of delay adds premium, waiting periods and exclusions. The right senior-citizen plan chosen today is far cheaper than a hospital bill next year.
🔍 What we check before recommending
The clauses that actually decide your claim:
- No or high room-rent limit, and no disease-wise sub-limits
- Waiting periods for existing conditions - and how to minimise them
- Restoration of cover, no-claim bonus, day-care and pre/post hospitalisation
- Cashless network hospitals near your home and your parents' home
- Co-pay clauses, especially in senior citizen plans

💬 Health insurance, honestly answered
How much health cover is enough?
For a metro/city family, a ₹10 lakh base plus a super top-up taking you to ₹50 lakh or more is a sensible modern baseline. A single cardiac or cancer treatment can cross ₹15–20 lakh.
I have cover from my employer. Do I still need my own?
Yes. Corporate cover ends with the job and usually can't be carried into your 40s and 50s when you need it most. A personal policy bought young locks in insurability for life.
My parent has diabetes / BP. Can they still get insured?
Usually yes - with the right insurer, correct disclosure and realistic expectations about waiting periods. Never hide a condition; a disclosed condition delays cover, a hidden one destroys the claim.
